It's especially hard not snack away if you're cooking after work and already starving. Sometimes you won't even be hungry and you'll just pick at it 'cause it's there. Other times it is just too good a food to resist. Prosciutto is the hardest to resist-I NEVER win against it.
When your meal is done and you are waiting for dinner guests or spouse or mate to come home for dinner, it can be a killer not to "taste" something repeateldy...like sauce with a slice of bread. It's so wonderful to indulge but such a bummer when it's time to actually dine and you're no longer hungry.
For me, the worst part is finding the patience to sit through someone else eating his meal when you don't even want to eat...HATE IT. And when I am (rarely) feeling sensitive and don't want my guy to eat by himself, I will force myself to eat. This leads me to be resentful, uncomfortably full and risk adding a notch on my belt. If I get fat just to be nice, I will no longer be nice!!
Long and short of the tip: Don't snack before your meal. Wait to actually eat when you sit down. Try tricks that will deter you from partaking in any pre-meal feasting. Chew gum, brush your teeth (that always ruins the taste of anything) or, even better, put in a teeth bleaching tray-then you can keep yourself from eating and improve your smile at the same time.
